House Bambino

Identity & tradition

House Bambino was bound to House Marino through a series of marriages and sworn oaths. Its banners were pledged to the Marino family, which led their faction in the early rivalry and wars against House Fachelli. This was both a relationship between families and an allegiance between Houses.

Where the saying comes from

At Torcavalle’s drove gates, herds were counted and escorts pledged to households waiting for provisions. A missing animal could mean a broken bargain or an empty table.

Take responsibility for what enters and leaves your care. The same resolve can become possessiveness, suspicion and a refusal to release an inherited grievance.

When it is heard

At a supply handover, when pledging protection, or when demanding an account of a loss.

A gate becomes a warehouse, a crew’s stores or a settlement entrance. Said to a Garbonzo, it may carry accusation beneath ordinary business; its meaning depends on the people and their history.

The duty forged in the Doom

Herd routes and provisioning contracts become ration stores, supply manifests and the work of feeding displaced households through the escape.

The inherited duty in the modern crew

Salespeople, traders, procurement specialists, stock keepers and supply coordinators.

Buys inputs for Garbonzo, distributes its output and keeps crews supplied, with Lombardo protection when needed. The old Garbonzo feud strains this shared work without making every descendant an enemy.

This historical specialty carries into the modern crew. Members can develop secondary skills; the Commission confirms crew placement and appoints actual ranks.

The homeland in Vardessa

The Torca Vales · Torcavalle

Warm, sheltered southern lowlands with mild, rainy winters, never the cold or snowy winters of the northern Houses. Long summers support grazing and crops; spring rains feed the Torca stream and its flood meadows. Low grazing valleys, warm wooded ridges and flood meadows beside the Torca, a separate small coastal stream. It rises in the low inland hills and drains southwest to the sea; it does not climb north to join the Avel.

The bull grows from the breeding yards and the strength required to move and defend herds. The House’s force has a material purpose: protect the coastal food corridor. Marriages bind its ruling households to Marino; sworn banners place the faction under Marino leadership.

The bull stands for the cattle economy, physical resolve and the force supplied to the alliance.

Trade partners

Marino is the strongest partner for salt, shipping and export markets. Vespucci routes inland sales; Lombardo buys remounts, leather and provisions, and Fachelli estates buy stock during peace.

Music & oral tradition

Herd-calling phrases, wedding processions and stamping rhythms drawn from drove yards. Wedding verses may recall the two recorded Marino marriages.

The early allegiance

Modern history

Luciani proposes the first union after Cenerath’s eruption: the Ashen Compact brings the survivors beneath the Fachelli crest before they flee Vardessa. Later divisions culminate in the 1935–1940 Red–Blue Civil War between Fachelli and Vespucci, which nearly destroys Garbonzo and Bambino. Luciani brokers the 1940 peace that establishes the seven-seat Commission. The Houses arrive in Montaro in 2026. Shared origin, complementary duties and unfamiliar outside powers make cooperation necessary; unity does not create one bloodline or erase what one family did to another.

What survives the union

Old grievances travel in household stories, pauses and jokes whose humour can conceal resentment. A slight can reopen an old wound, but love, marriages, new alliances and shared challenges can also bind descendants their ancestors taught to distrust. Do not assume either inevitable betrayal or automatic reconciliation: each generation chooses what to carry forward.

Relationships

These relationships begin in Vardessa and carry different pressures into later eras. A House tradition does not fix every descendant’s allegiance. Specific marriages connect named people; sworn banners do not create kinship.

Values & reputation

Ambition and force operate within an inheritance of kinship and pledged service. The House carries its own name and interests while remembering that its early banners stood with Marino. The bull expresses the force Bambino brought to that faction.

What the family passes down

Marriage ties and sworn oaths are distinct parts of the House record. An oath establishes allegiance; a marriage establishes a particular family connection. The names, generations and terms of those individual unions remain to be recorded.

The tension within the tradition

Kinship does not remove the possibility of rivalry or betrayal. The later conflict around Tony Bambino and Vito Vespucci is an individual modern event. It does not make Vespucci the old coastal ally, or undo the ancestral Marino–Bambino marriages. Garbonzo and Bambino have rivalled for generations. Their original service as proxies of Fachelli and Marino turned the great Houses’ contests into personal losses and conflicts their descendants regard as unforgivable. That feud survives changes of faction, feeding internal rivalry, betrayal and disputed loyalties; it is an inherited pressure, not a command that every descendant must hate. Their modern dependence on one another for making and distributing goods forces cooperation without requiring forgiveness.

The House’s early role is established. The founding register fixes the first named households and two Marino–Bambino marriages. Unknown intervening ancestors, additional marriages, oath terms and battle accounts enter the chronology as the Commission and community develop them.
